Abstract

Advancements in information technology have significantly impacted various aspects of life, including education. Information technology has become a crucial tool for creating learning experiences that are more effective, efficient, and flexible. This study aims to outline the role, utilization, and both positive and negative impacts of information technology in education. Employing a qualitative literature review approach, this article discusses the concept of computer-based learning, the characteristics of information technology in supporting the teaching-learning process, and the challenges associated with implementing technology in educational settings. The findings indicate that information technology can enhance the quality of learning through interactive media and broad access to information. However, limitations in infrastructure, the digital divide, and a lack of digital literacy remain obstacles that must be addressed. Therefore, a prudent and targeted approach to technology integration is required to ensure that all stakeholders in education can derive optimal benefits.
