The Role of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Teacher in Enhancing Interest in Reading the Qur'an and Learning Motivation at MA Al Furqon Prabumulih

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in increasing students' interest in reading the Quran and their motivation to learn at MA Al-Fur'qon Prabumulih. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that teachers play a role as motivators, guides, role models, and classroom managers in Quran learning. The tahsin program, the Maghrib prayer circle (halaqah), the Ottoman method, and the provision of rewards in the form of rihlah (religious study groups) have been shown to increase students' interest and motivation. However, several obstacles remain, such as a lack of basic interest and low reading ability. Solutions are implemented through individual guidance, teacher role models, the use of Quranic stories, and support from additional learning schedules.
